Retap has evolved from a Danish hydration innovator established in 2009 into a comprehensive wellness and flavour experience brand. Our foundation is built on offering high-quality Retap Drinkware. However, we’ve expanded our vision to enhance your hydration journey with our groundbreaking addition, Retap Flavour. This new concept allows customers to not only refill their drinkware with tap water but also to customize their hydration with a variety of natural flavours, transforming ordinary water into extraordinary.
Our journey began when three visionary entrepreneurs came together in 2009, driven by a passion to reduce plastic waste in our oceans, predominantly from disposable plastic bottles. Today, Retap stands as a holistic hydration company, committed to enriching your overall water drinking experience.

UN climate
“At the UN climate meeting back in 2009 in Copenhagen (COP 15), we became more aware of the negative impact of bottled water on our environment. We felt that something had to be done. We set our minds to designing a bottle especially made for drinking tap water. One year and many designs later, in the summer of 2010, we released the Retap Bottle, and we are very proud of this sustainable and beautiful product,” explains Lars Brøndum Petersen, one of the founders.
Since then, more bottle sizes and bottle accessories have been added to the product range, along with a carafe. The latest innovation, Retap Flavour, was released during the fall of 2023 and has already become a major success. Retap products are sold in more than 60 countries worldwide. The main office is located in Agerskov, Denmark.
Retaps mission
Our core mission is to tackle the environmental issues caused by single-use plastic bottles. In 2019, as we celebrated our 10th anniversary, it was clear that our initial idea of creating a sustainable water bottle was just the beginning. Today, we’re focused on becoming a holistic hydration company. This means we’re not just about bottles, we’re about encouraging everyone to minimize their environmental impact through smarter, more sustainable hydration choices.
